Myths abound in almost every culture, from the legends of the Inuit Indians in Alaska of the Sedna, to the Greek legends of mermaids and harpies; all portray the female (part woman, part beast) as temptress--not only tempting but also luring men to danger and often death.  The only way to deal with the siren is to capture or kill her before she spins her evil spells.  If she tempts, she must be evil.  The paintings are bits and pieces of women--some provocative, others not.  The images are taken out of context, stretched and pulled apart, exploring the myth of the siren.  Webster's Dictionary definition:  Legendary female monster supposed to lure sailors to destruction.
